Sharp focus
26th December 2024
It's that time of year when birds of prey are far easier to spot against the stark, winter outline of tree branches and dull overcast skies.
I am currently much in love with a visiting male kestrel who perches on a dead tree behind the house and fixes his sharp focused stare on activity below in the long grass.
Unlike the buzzards that sometimes sit in the same tree and will take to the wing with just the hint of me reaching for the backdoor handle; the kestrel just ignores everything else whilst being so intent on it's catching prey.
